Vol. 249 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Devlin Report.

96.

asked the Minister for Finance if any timetable has as yet been drawn up by the Government for the implementation of the recommendation of the Devlin Report; and if he will make a statement on the progress to date.

The report of the public services organisation review group indicated that, in their view, the first priority was the establishment of the Public Service Department. The Government have accepted this recommendation and the necessary enabling legislation will be introduced in the present session, if the parliamentary timetable permits. The new Department will be charged with the implementation programme envisaged in the report.
