Vol. 249 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Banking System Inquiry.

99.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will hold a public inquiry into the banking system for the purpose of ascertaining how it can best be made to serve the national interest.

100.

asked the Minister for Finance if, having regard to the frequency of disruption in banking services caused by industrial disputes and the need to avoid any further disruption, he will now have a full public inquiry into the structure, operation and staffing of the banking system with a view to avoiding future stoppages.

With your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 99 and 100 together.

I would refer the Deputies to the announcement made by the Minister for Labour on this matter.
