Vol. 249 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Estates.

123.

andMr. Cowen asked the Minister for Lands if the Abraham Estate, Ballymooney, Geashill, County Offaly, will be divided next spring; and if Ballinagar Gaelic Athletic Association will be allocated a field.

Of this 425 acre property some 304 acres have already been allotted. It is not possible to forecast just now when division of the balance can be effected or what form the allocation plans will take but I shall arrange to have the application of the Ballinagar GAA Club brought to the attention of the Land Commission.

124.

andMr. Cowen asked the Minister for Lands if the Whigsboro Estate at Fivealley, Birr, County Offaly, comprising twenty acres will be divided in the very near future.

Of a total of 401 acres acquired on this estate, some 70 acres have been allotted and it is expected that a further 26 acres will be allocated shortly. It is not possible, just now, to indicate when allotment of the balance will take place.

125.

andMr. Cowen asked the Minister for Lands when the McNally Estate, Rhode, County Offaly, will be divided.

126.

andMr. Cowen asked the Minister for Lands when the Mahon Estate, Croghan, County Offaly, (Record No. M. 9640) will be divided

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 125 and 126 together.

A comprehensive scheme of division is being prepared for the McNally estate and adjoining lands, aggregating 340 acres. A similar position applies to the Mahon estate and other properties in its locality, with a total area of 347 acres.

I understand that a good deal of the necessary inquiries on the ground have been completed in both cases and I am hopeful that resale plans will be approved so as to permit allocation of at least part of the lands next spring.
