Vol. 249 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Secondary School Students.

18.

asked the Minister for Education if he will amend the present legislation which debars Donegal students attending secondary schools in Northern Ireland from availing themselves of the grants for higher education; and if he will revert to the system whereby students in this position would be permitted to sit a special leaving certificate examination.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply of the 9th April, 1970, to a previous question from him in regard to this matter.

I am satisfied that for the reasons given therein a departure from the present legal requirements in relation to the award of higher education grants would not be warranted.
