Vol. 249 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sheep Dipping Standards.

46.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will state in relation to sheep dipping and sheep baths the minimum specifications and requirements necessary to dip sheep in private dipping baths so as to make Mayo sheep farmers eligible for payment of sheep subsidy.

It is a condition of my Department's Hogget Ewe and Mountain Lamb Subsidy Schemes that a dipping certificate under the Sheep Dipping Orders for the period 1st June to 7th August must be produced in respect of the sheep. No minimum dimensions are specified for the baths in which such dipping may be carried out but for the purposes of the Orders a dipping bath must be big enough to permit of the total immersion of the sheep.
