Vol. 249 No. 3

Written Answer. - European Space Policy.

232.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether the Government accepts Recommendation No. 572 on European space policy, which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 3 October 1969; and whether they will instruct their representatives on the European Space Conference and in the Committee of Senior Officials to comply with the proposals contained in paragraph 12 of this recommendation.

The Committee of Ministers' Deputies of the Council of Europe have already brought the resolution to which the Deputy refers to the attention of a number of international, including European bodies, concerned with space policy.

As Ireland is represented in the European Space Conference and its Committee of Senior Officials by an observer delegation only, its representatives are not in a position to participate in any vote which would further the Consultative Assembly's proposals.
