Vol. 249 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Devaluation.

15.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider measures, including the introduction of legislation if necessary, to enable land to be devalued in cases where such devaluation is justified.

The question of amending the valuation legal code is being Considered in conjunction with the recommendations in the Report on Valuation for Rating Purposes by the Interdepartmental Committee on Local Finance and Taxation. I am not in a position to say what proposals may emerge relating to the valuation of land.

Will the Minister indicate how long the inquiries will take and when we may hope for some relaxation?

I am not in a position to give the Deputy a firm date on that.
