Vol. 249 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conservation Year Publicity.

22.

asked the Minister for Lands what amount of money was spent by his Department on publicity during Conservation Year.

The total amount expended to-date by my Department on publicity for European Conservation Year is £1,642. This figure does not include expenditure on educational projects, exhibits, publications, etc.

Is the Minister satisfied that the amount spent on publicity has been justified by the results achieved?

It is very difficult at this stage to estimate what the results are but the Deputy will agree that it is well worth while taking a very active part in European Conservation Year because we are lucky in this country to have so much to conserve unlike other countries which woke up too late to the problem.

Is the Minister satisfied that anything has been achieved other than talk?

The question deals with the amount of money spent.
