Vol. 249 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clare Fishing Port Development.

47.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will as a matter of urgency develop the village fishing port of Liscannor, County Clare, to ensure that a fish processing plant and a properly sheltered harbour exist in one of the best deep sea and shell fishing grounds in Europe.

Liscannor was inspected by the special survey team which is making an appraisal of fishing ports on the west coast and proposals for the improvement of the port are being examined at present.

The setting up of a fish processing plant is a matter for private initiative but both my Department and An Bord Iascaigh Mhara are always willing to give anybody thinking of setting up a factory all information and advice in the formulation of his project.
