Vol. 249 No. 9

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Whiskey Distilling.

55.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware of the intention of a firm (name supplied) to terminate the distilling of a whiskey; and whether he has made any representation to them in the matter.

I have been informed by United Distillers of Ireland Limited that there is no intention to terminate distilling of this whiskey. I understand that for marketing reasons the practice of having the whiskey bottled by wholesalers has been discontinued.
