asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the need for additional primary school facilities in Shankill, County Dublin; and what steps he proposes to take in this matter.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 17 and 18 together.

I am aware of the need for additional primary school facilities in Ballybrack and Shankill, County Dublin. There are proposals before my Department to erect new school buildings which would provide about six additional classrooms with a general purposes room in each case. The necessary steps in relation to these proposals have been put in train.

Can the Minister say when the work may commence?

I could not say that at the moment.
