Vol. 252 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Factory Closure.

18.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that it is two months since the CWS bacon factory, Tralee, County Kerry closed down, thus depriving approximately 90 workers of employment; and, if so, if he will now state if his Department have considered the possibility of providing an alternative industry for the town.

The Industrial Development Authority are continuing their efforts to attract an alternative industry to the town. I regret these efforts have not so far been successful.

Is the Minister aware that it was announced at a Fianna Fáil social in Tralee about a fortnight ago that there was some industry on the way for this concern?

I am not so aware.

Thank you.
