Vol. 252 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballybrack (Dublin) Houses.

64.

asked the Minister for Local Government when his Department expects to give sanction to Dún Laoghaire Borough Corporation for its proposed rental housing scheme of 150 units at Ballybrack, County Dublin; and the total cost of this scheme.

I gave provisional approval last month to the corporation's plans for this scheme. The all-in cost was estimated at £610,000 or well over £4,000 per house which is excessive for local authority housing. I have told the corporation that unless they can secure a substantial reduction of this figure at tender stage, a re-planning of the scheme may be necessary.
