Vol. 252 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closure of Industrial Concerns.

28.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of industrial concerns employing more than 20 persons which have closed in the period 1st June, 1970, to 1st March, 1971; and the number of persons unemployed as a result of such closures.

The information available to my Department shows that in the period mentioned 14 industrial firms employing more than 20 persons closed down. Four of the firms were subsequently reopened.

A total of 723 persons were unemployed as a result of these closures. It is understood that at least 420 of these have found other jobs.
