Vol. 252 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Holdings.

42.

asked the Minister for Lands what proposals, if any, the Land Commission has for the rearrangement of holdings in the townlands of Mace and Aughagower, Westport, County Mayo.

Lands awaiting distribution in the neighbourhood of Mace, near Westport, comprise one estate of 29 acres. Proceedings for the resumption of a 39-acre holding have reached the final stages and it is expected that possession will be taken this Thursday.

The Land Commission are aware that there is acute congestion in the vicinity. The preparation of allotment proposals for the lands already on hands has been deferred pending examination of the possible acquisition of other lands in the area, so that a comprehensive plan of land settlement can be prepared.
