Vol. 252 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry School.

53.

asked the Minister for Education whether he will take steps to improve the very dangerous exits from Kilgarvan national school, County Kerry, on to the public roadway in the village.

In 1966 permission was asked by the Kerry County Council to acquire a strip of the Kilgarvan school grounds for road widening purposes. My Department and the Commissioners of Public Works raised no objection to this proposal provided that the county council undertook to pay the cost of the new boundary wall and safety entrance. Since the school is non-vested the question of transferring the plot of ground required by the county council and the completion of any necessary agreement is a matter for the county council and the school manager. The latter is being communicated with in regard to the matter.
