I have received representations for a relaxation of rent control from the association mentioned. I have also received representations for an extension of rent control from various tenants' organisations. The position in regard to all these representations is that the scope and policy of rent control were fully considered by this House as well as by Seanad Éireann in connection with the passing of the Rent Restrictions (Amendment) Act, 1967, and that I have no proposals for new legislation affecting these matters.
