Vol. 253 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

25.

asked the Minister for Local Government if sanction has been given to Leitrim County Council to proceed with a sewerage scheme at Dromahair; and, if not, when sanction will be given.

I approved revised contract documents for this scheme on the 23rd April.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction the following sewerage extensions in Tullamore, County Offaly: (a) extension to Clara Road, (b) extension to Arden Road and (c) extension to Tara Street.

Contract documents for these extensions are at present under examination in my Department and I hope to convey a decision thereon at an early date.

27.

Mr. Burke

asked the Minister for Local Government the up-to-date position of the following group water schemes in County Roscommon: (1) Tarmonbarry, (2) Whitehall, (3) Currane, (4) Kilbarry, (5) Cloonfower, Ballymacgrine, and (6) Cloonmore.

Possible sources to serve these schemes are at present under investigation. When suitable sources have been located in each case the group will be advised to have a design prepared.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government the up-to-date position of the following group water schemes in County Roscommon: (1) Derrynargon, (2) Fostra and (3) Dromore; when applications in respect of them were received; and what progress has been made to date in each case.

These three proposals were originally received in my Department on the following dates: (1) Derrynargon, 22nd December, 1970; (2) Fostra, 29th January, 1971; (3) Dromore, 16th December, 1970. All three are proposed extensions from existing public mains.

The locations of the participating houses have, in each case, been plotted on six inch Ordnance Survey maps and when the domestic and agricultural requirements of the groups have been determined the county council will be approached for permission to the extensions.

29.

asked the Minister for Local Government when sanction will be granted for the extension of the Urlingford-Johnstown water scheme to Grangefertha.

The local authority has been requested to furnish additional technical data to enable the proposal for this scheme to be examined.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction (a) the 550,000 gallon reservoir to be erected at Arden Road, Tullamore, County Offaly and (b) the extension of the water main to Clonminch, Tullamore.

Preliminary proposals for Stage 2 of the Tullamore water supply improvement scheme, which will include the works referred to by the Deputy, are under consideration in my Department. This stage has not been accorded a high priority by the local authority and the projects which have been accorded a higher priority must take precedence.
