Vol. 254 No. 14

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Leaving Certificate Courses.

72.

Mr. Dunne

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of the current academic year the number and locations of post-primary schools with a leaving certificate course; and the number of pupils taking a leaving certificate course in each school.

In order to supply this information it would be necessary to examine the enrolments in some 900 school centres and then to extract the particulars of those following leaving certificate courses. The amount of staff time involved in such an exercise would not be warranted especially at a time when officers of the post-primary branch are already over extended on work connected with this year's certificate examinations.
