Vol. 255 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Maternal Deaths.

11.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of each of the years 1969 and 1970 the number of maternal deaths on the north side of Dublin city and county and the total number of women who died in childbirth in that area.

In 1969 there were no maternal deaths and consequently no deaths in childbirth for Dublin north city and county. The number of maternal deaths in 1970 was three, provisional, for the same area. As I informed the Deputy in reply to a question last week, the classification of maternal deaths in 1970 into deaths during childbirth and other maternal deaths will not be available until next month and I shall write to the Deputy when I receive it.
