Vol. 255 No. 19

Written Answers. - Dublin City Council.

164.

Mr. L. Belton

andMr. P. Belton asked the Minister for Local Government whether it is intended to reinstate Dublin Corporation prior to the holding of the next local elections; and, if not, why.

As indicated in reply to previous questions on this subject, I have no power to reinstate the members of Dublin Corporation who were removed from office under section 44 of the Local Government Act, 1941. The law requires me to fix a date for a new election which, in the case of Dublin Corporation, must be within the period of five years after the date of removal of the members from office. No decision has been taken on the date for such new election.
