asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange for the erection of a telephone kiosk at Loughnavalley, County Westmeath.

Provision of kiosks in areas such as Loughnavalley where there is no post office is not envisaged under the extended kiosk programme for rural areas.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone kiosk will be erected at Cuas, Ballydavid, County Kerry.

Provision of kiosks in areas such as Cuas where there is no post office is not envisaged under the extended kiosk programme for rural areas.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the telephone service in Dungarvan, County Waterford, is most unsatisfactory; and what action will be taken to improve the service.

I am not aware that the telephone service in Dungarvan, County Waterford, is most unsatisfactory. There is some delay however on trunk calls during the busy periods of the day because of a shortage of trunk circuits from Dungarvan. Additional trunk circuits to Waterford will be brought into service in about three months time.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the new automatic telephone system will be installed in Dungarvan, County Waterford; and the cause of the delay in installing it.

An order has been placed for the supply and installation of an automatic exchange at Dungarvan. On the basis of the contractor's forecast the new exchange will be ready for service early in 1974.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether telephone exchanges in general and Dublin exchanges in particular are understaffed; and, if so, what he proposes to do to remedy the situation.

Telephone exchanges in general, including the Dublin exchange, are considered to be adequately staffed.

173.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when his Department intend to have a telephone kiosk erected at Blueball, Tullamore, County Offaly; and whether he received a document signed by 150 people in the area who believe that a telephone kiosk is urgently required.

It is expected that a telephone kiosk will be provided at Blueball, Tullamore, County Offaly, in the current financial year under the programme for extension of kiosk facilities in rural areas. A document signed by 150 householders in the vicinity of Blueball who are anxious to have a telephone kiosk in the area has been received.
