asked the Minister for Finance when he received a recommendation of the Civil Service Arbitration Board on claims for increased pay for executive and higher executive officers; whether he has presented the report to the Government; if not, why; and when the Government propose to announce their attitude to the recommendation.

The report of the Civil Service Arbitration Board on claims for increased pay for the grades of executive officer and higher executive officer was received on 28th June, 1971, and is at present under consideration by the Government. When this consideration has been completed, the Government's decision will be announced in accordance with the provisions of the conciliation and arbitration agreement for the Civil Service.

Can the Minister give any indication as to when it is likely to be considered by the Government? Will it be in the near future or some months hence?

I could not indicate that except to say it will be dealt with within the time appointed under the scheme.

Within three months.
