Vol. 255 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reports and Surveys.

43.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what reports and surveys, if any, have been commissioned by his Department in each of the past ten years, the amount of money spent on each such report or survey; by whom they were conducted; and how many, if any, reports or surveys are outstanding.

I take it from the terms of the Deputy's inquiry that he is not concerned with reports made as part of their normal function by continuing bodies such as the Fair Trade Commission and the Merchandise Marks Commission. On this basis, the information is as set out in a statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

In addition to the above reports or surveys commissioned by the Minister, mention should be made of reports made to the Government by the Committee on Industrial Organisation in the years 1962 to 1965. It is not possible in the time available to isolate expenses from the general expenditure of the Government Departments involved. It would not be correct to consider the Reports as having been severally commissioned, and instead of the year in which commissioned the year of publication is given in each case.
