Vol. 255 No. 19

Written Answers. - Mayo Bridge.

140.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is likely that the badly damaged bridge on the Bellacorick-Castlebar main road will be reconstructed or replaced; and the source from which financial assistance is to be made available.

I presume the question relates to Boghadoon Bridge. The reconstruction or replacement of the bridge is a matter in the first instance for Mayo County Council and no proposals have been made to me in the matter. The question of a Road Fund grant will be examined if and when proposals for the bridge are received from the council.

Mr. J. Lenehan

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is likely that the damaged bridge on the Ballina-Belmullet road at Eskeragh will be reconstructed or replaced.

Proposals of Mayo County Council for the improvement of the road at this location have been approved. Details of the bridge works proposed have not been submitted and these have been requested from the Council. The execution of the work is a matter for Mayo County Council.
