Vol. 256 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Regional Industrial Plans.

26.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will make available to the Members of both Houses the eight regional industrial plans of the IDA when completed by that authority.

When the drafting of these plans has been completed by the IDA it will be necessary for the Government to consider them in the context of regional policy as a whole. When this has been done the plans will be circulated to Members of both Houses and made public.

Can the Minister give the House an assurance that as soon as these plans are received from the IDA they will be dealt with expeditiously and will not be buried, as have so many regional industrial plans, by the Government, with particular reference to the Buchanan Report?

There is no question of the burial of plans. I have just indicated that they will be considered in conjunction with the regional policy as a whole and will then be published.

May I ask the Minister——

I am calling Question No. 27.
