Vol. 257 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle Winter Accommodation.

74.

andMr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he would give figures for increase in winter accommodation for cattle self-fed on silage since this date last year and for which grants were applied for.

The latest information available is in respect of the year ended 30th September, 1971, and it is estimated that in that year farm buildings scheme expenditure of £590,000 resulted from applications for grants for silos and loose-houses that became part of self-feed units.

There are no statistics which would indicate the extent of the increase in winter accommodation for cattle self-fed on silage, during the period.
