Vol. 257 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Decca Navigation System.

110.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if there are plans for the setting up of a Decca navigation system which will be operative in the Irish sea and/or in the Atlantic ocean off our shores to help trawlermen.

On 11th May, 1971, a contract was entered into with the Decca Navigator Company, Ltd., for the provision of a Decca navigation system to service the north-west, west and south coasts. It is expected that the system will be in operation towards the end of 1972. Decca reception, based on stations in Britain, is already available on the remainder of the coastline.
