Vol. 257 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Estates.

25.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the Mooney estate, Dawras, Milltown, Tuam, County Galway has been advertised for sale on 3rd December next; and if he will instruct the Land Commission to have the estate acquired for allocation among local congests or alternatively to have a notice served under section 40 of the Land Act, 1923.

The Land Commission have decided to carry out an inspection of this 47 acre property and the requisite notice under the Land Act, 1965, was served last month. Until such time as the inspection has been completed, it is not possible to indicate what action may follow.

26.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission intends to divide the following estates in County Galway: (a) Joyce estate, Cultiafadda, Cloonminda, Castlerea, (b) James Keaveney estate and Patrick Burke estate, Lough Park, Glenamaddy, (c) William Collins estate, Bushtown, Glenamaddy, (d) James Raftery estate, Cloonalara, Cloonminda, Castlerea, (e) Patrick Quinn estate and Thomas Mannion estate, Englishtown, Glenamaddy and (f) Naughton estate, Boyounagh More, Glenamaddy.

27.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission intends to divide the Mitchell estate, Castlefarm, Dunmore, County Galway.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 26 and 27 together.

It is hoped that the Mitchell, Joyce, Keaveney, Burke, Collins and Raftery estates, aggregating 146 acres, will be allotted in the coming spring.

Composite resale proposals are envisaged for the Quinn and Mannion estates, comprising, in all, 71 acres and the aim is to include these, and the 11 acre Naughton estate, in the following year's allocation programme.

28.

asked the Minister for Lands if an application has been received from farmers in the Cloontooa area, Tuam, County Galway, for a rearrangement scheme to be carried out; and the up-to-date position regarding this application.

Representations for the rearrangement of lands in the Cloontooa area have been made but I understand that the Land Commission have, at present, no lands on hands in the vicinity which could be devoted to this purpose.

The matter has, however, been noted for investigation.
