Vol. 258 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Investment in Aer Lingus.

40.

asked the Minister for Finance the total amount of State investment in Aer Lingus.

I assume that the Deputy's reference to Aer Lingus is intended to include both Aer Lingus Teoranta and Aerlinte Éireann Teoranta. The authorised share capital of these companies is £41.5 million. and the issue capital is £38.6 million. Of the latter amount £23.6 million is held by me, the balance of £15 million of Aer Lingus shares being held by Aerlínte. In addition an irredeemable loan of £5 million has been advanced by the Exchequer to Aerlínte. The total State investment in the air companies is, therefore £28.6 million.

Is there any private investment, apart from State investment, in Aer Lingus?

Would the Minister tell me whether any dividend is payable?

No. There is no private investment.
