asked the Minister for Defence the allowances paid to Army personnel on special duties such as Border patrol and the difference in allowances, including disturbance allowance, as between officers and men.

Allowances are not payable to either officers or men in respect of duties such as Border patrol. Married officers and men who by reason of Border duty are separated from their families and away from their permanent stations, receive free rations.
