Vol. 258 No. 14

Written Answers. - County Donegal Telephone Kiosks.

223.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider providing an outside telephone kiosk in the following areas in Donegal: Culdaff, Malin, Gleneely, Clonmany, Ballyliffin; and if he will also arrange for a 24-hour telephone service for the Malin area.

(Mr. G. Collins): A kiosk is likely to be provided at Culdaff under the kiosk programme for the coming financial year. Provision of kiosks at Malin and Ballyliffin is not warranted at present but kiosks will probably be provided in both places later on under the extended rural kiosk programme. The call office telephone at Gleneely and Clonmany are little used and provision of a kiosk at either place is not contemplated.

The introduction of a 24-hour telephone service at Malin exchange is not considered warranted at present. A number of subscribers have continuous service by means of switching to Carndonagh exchange when Malin is closed and several more can be similarly accommodated.

The Dáil adjourned at 5 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 22nd February, 1972.
