Vol. 259 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle Breeding.

31.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will allow the importation from abroad of semen from proven and disease free bulls for use on the new breeds such as Charolais, Fleckvich, and South Devon, the importation of which his Department has allowed.

Licences for the import of semen for pedigree breeding from these breeds have been granted and applications for further imports would be considered. However, imports of semen are not permitted from continental Europe or the USA on veterinary grounds.
