Vol. 259 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - English Newspaper Report.

33.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of a recent report in an English newspaper which is causing distress to the family concerned, he will confirm that no personal effects of any person shot dead by British forces in Derry since 1969 have been acquired by the National Museum.

There is no basis for any report that the personal effects of any such person have been acquired by the National Museum.

Would the Minister agree that this inaccurate reporting by the Daily Mail suggesting or implying that a man had sold his dead son's clothes to the National Museum is not only despicable but is the worst type of journalism?

I would agree.
