Vol. 259 No. 8

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Factory Closures.

51.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the CWS bacon factory, Tralee, County Kerry, closed down in January, 1971, and that Southern Tanneries closed down in January, 1972; and if he has any proposals for replacing these two factories.

The Industrial Development Authority are at present engaged in negotiations for the establishment of a new industry in Tralee. If these negotiations are successful, the employment provided should contribute significantly to offsetting the number of jobs lost by the closures mentioned.
