asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the total number of the following documents issued to date by his Department, either sold or issued free of charge: (a) the Governments's White Paper on EEC accession; (b) copies of the Treaties of Accession; (c) Summary of White Paper (i) English version and (ii) Irish version; and (d) copies of general leaflets.

(a) 904 copies of the White Paper on Ireland's Accession to the European Communities were issued free by my Department. No copies were sold; (b) 327 copies of the Treaty of Accession of Ireland and the other applicant countries to the European Communities were issued free by my Department. No copies were sold; (c) 310,000 copies of "Into Europe", the summary of the White Paper, were disposed of by my Department for free distribution to the public through post offices or were supplied free directly by my Department. 86,600 copies of the Irish version were similarly issued. No copies of the Irish or English versions were sold; (d) the total number of copies of the various booklets and leaflets on the EEC published by my Department which have been distributed free through post offices or supplied directly by the Department is 993,600. 2,200 copies of the first booklet published "The Common Market and how it works" were sold through the Government Publications Sale Office and booksellers.
