Vol. 260 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Houses.

105.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make a statement on the present position of the new house project in Tipperary town.

106.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in erecting houses at Carrownreddy, County Tipperary.

I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 105 and 106 together.

I am not aware of any undue delay in the erection of houses at Carrownreddy. I understand that a proposal for the scheme under the guaranteed order project has been received by the National Building Agency from the contractor selected by the housing authority and that this proposal is being examined. I am assured that an early recommendation will be made to the housing authority by the agency.

Before asking a supplementary question I should like to say that there is undue delay.

Wait until the Deputy hears the different answer in this case.

Could the Minister give any definite date for the starting of the new houses?

Watch now. All the information will be forthcoming now.

All I can say is that a quotation for the revised scheme of houses was submitted by the contractor to the National Building Agency who are acting for the council, on 16th March, 1972, and this is being examined and a recommendation will issue as soon as possible.

Would the Deputy not go into the Minister's office and get all the information? I am sure he would be very helpful.
