Vol. 261 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Registration of Chemist.

1.

asked the Minister for Health whether a person (name supplied) who holds the qualification M.P.S. Belfast is prohibited from practising as a chemist in the Twenty-six Counties; and, if so, why.

Under regulations which recently became effective the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland has authority to register a person qualified in the manner described by the Deputy.

It is open to the person to whom the Deputy's question relates to apply to the society to be registered.

Could the Minister say whether this man has yet been registered?

I do not know. It is up to him to apply and pay whatever the fee is.

Is it not true his application is still before the Department of Health and the society is still awaiting sanction from the Department?

I have no information on that. That is not what the reply appears to say.
