asked the Minister for Health the number of persons employed by the health boards in grades 1, 2 and 3 of chief executive officer and their current salary scales.

The current salary scales for chief executive officers of health boards are as follows:—

Eastern Health Board: £5,770 × £143—£6,345.

Southern, South Eastern and Western Health Board: £5,185 × £143— £5,760.

Remaining 4 health boards: £4,600 × £144—£5,175.

asked the Minister for Finance the current salary scales and numbers in each grade for secretary, assistant secretary, principal, assistant principal, administrative officer and higher executive officer of the civil service.

The information sought by the Deputy is set out in a statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

asked the Minister for Local Government the current salary scales for city and county managers, assistant county managers, county secretaries, county solicitors, county engineers, chief assistant county engineers, assistant county engineers, county accountants, staff officers and county librarians; and the number in each grade.

The information regarding the number of officers is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as it is available.

asked the Minister for Local Government the estimated number of public servants engaged in local administration who are earning in excess of £2,500 per annum.

The information requested is not immediately available in my Department but it is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy when it is available.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of town clerks in towns with a population of (i) 5,000 to 9,000, (ii) 9,000 to 15,000 and (iii) over 15,000; and their current salary scales.

The following table sets out the number of towns in the three population categories and the salary scale applicable to the office of town clerk in each category.
