Vol. 261 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Northern Ireland Peace-keeping Force.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if he will consider seeking Britain's co-operation in asking the United Nations to provide an impartial peace-keeping force in Northern Ireland to prevent the spread of sectarian warfare on a massive scale.

As the Deputy is aware, the consent of the British Government is necessary if a United Nations' peace-keeping force is to operate in Northern Ireland. They have repeatedly refused to give their consent and I do not intend to pursue the matter with them at present.
