Vol. 261 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Factories.

97.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when the advance factory in Claremorris, County Mayo, will be opened by an industrialist.

I understand from the Industrial Development Authority that this advance factory was completed within the past two weeks. Some tentative inquiries have already been received and every effort is being made to secure a suitable industry for the premises.

98.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the position regarding the erection of an advance factory at an early date in Swinford, County Mayo, in view of the inquiries made recently by industrialists who are anxious to open a factory there.

The Industrial Development Authority have been endeavouring to secure a suitable site for the construction of an advance factory at Swinford. A site has been recommended by the local authority and approved by IDA but access to the site has yet to be negotiated. It will be appreciated that until such time as the site has been secured it is not possible to give a firm date for the commencement of the building of the factory.
