Vol. 262 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Cratering Damage.

20.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs whether any payment has been received from the British Government in compensation for damage done to property as a result of road cratering in areas adjacent to the Border; and, if so, the total amount received.

As I said on 1st March, in answer to question about compensation for damage done to property as a result of road cratering, legal remedies are available and are being pursued. When these remedies have been exhausted the question of obtaining compensation from the British authorities will then be considered, if necessary.

Is the Minister aware of the present position in relation to claims for malicious injury compensation? Have any decrees been granted or are they all pending?

I have not got any information on that.

If the Minister is satisfied that claims are being processed surely he must have some information?

I had information which I gave to the House before but I have not got it with me today.

I put it to the Minister that when he was previously questioned on this he declined to give information.

I told the House there were claims being proceeded with but I have not the information here with me today.

We will get it from the Minister next week.

All right.
