Vol. 262 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Dispensary.

5.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the decision of the South Eastern Health Board to erect a dispensary at Newgate Street, Waterford; if he will indicate when work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that the South-Eastern Health Board have decided to proceed with the building of a health centre rather than a dispensary at Newgate Street. My Department has asked the board for details of their latest proposals and until these details are received it is not possible to indicate when planning can be finalised.

If plans are finalised will money be available for the erection of this unit this year?

I could not say. That would depend on how the matter progresses.

Is the Minister aware that at present the facilities in Waterford are very poor and that, as a matter of urgency, a new health centre should be established?

I will do my best to provide the finances.
