asked the Minister for Finance the number of State pensioners at the latest available date in receipt of pensions (a) under £100 a year, (b) between (i) £100 and £125, (ii) £125 and £150, (iii) £150 and £200, (iv) £200 and £300, (v) £300 and £450 and (c) exceeding £450.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

NOTE: The numbers given in Category (II) are numbers of pensions and not pensioners. Many pensioners would be in receipt of more than one pension but it is not possible to separate them. Some pensioners in Category (I) would also be in receipt of a pension in category (II). The figures do not include the numbers of children's pensions under the ex-gratia and contributory widows' and children's pension schemes.
