Vol. 262 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leasing of Petrol Stations.

52.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is satisfied that there are no unfair practices in the conditions offered by oil companies to the renters of petrol stations; and if the conditions being offered comply with the fair trade regulations.

The recent inquiry carried out by the Restrictive Practices Commission into the supply and distribution of motor spirit provided no evidence of unfair practices in the conditions offered by oil companies to tenants of company-owned retail outlets. There are no provisions in the Restrictive Trade Practices (Motor Spirit and Motor Vehicle Lubricating Oil) Orders, 1961 to 1972, dealing with the conditions attaching to the lease of petrol stations.
