Vol. 262 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Kiosks.

175.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether it is proposed to replace the telephone kiosk at Collins Avenue/Celtic Park, Dublin which was knocked down in an accident; and, if so, when.

Restoration of the kiosk in question which was demolished in December, 1969, is not considered warranted as this kiosk was little used. The area is regarded as adequately served by existing street kiosks.

176.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide a telephone kiosk at Barnaderg, Tuam, County Galway.

It is expected that a telephone kiosk will be provided at Barnaderg in the current financial year.

The Minister will appreciate that I made strong representations to him and his Department to have this kiosk provided and I am pleased that my representations have been successful. However, would the Minister give an undertaking that money will be provided in his next Estimate for the provision of similar kiosks in other areas that I have recommended?

That would be a separate question.

I am sure the Deputy will be successful in his request for further kiosks for his constituency.

177.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a public telephone kiosk will be installed outside the post office at Latton, County Monaghan.

It is expected that the telephone kiosk planned for Latton under the extended rural kiosk programme for the current financial year will be erected and brought into service within the next three months or so.
