Vol. 262 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Longford Advance Factory.

87.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when it is expected that the advance factory being built at Granard, County Longford, will be ready for occupation; and if it is likely to be occupied by an industry soon after completion.

I understand from the Industrial Development Authority that the advance factory in question is expected to be ready for occupation later this month. I cannot say when the premises will be occupied but the Deputy may be assured that the IDA will do all they can to have an industry located there as soon as possible.

In view of the deterioration in the employment position in Granard, as revealed in an answer to me earlier today from the Taoiseach's office, would the Minister ask the IDA to give preference to Granard in relation to getting an occupant for this advance factory?

I know that the IDA are at present actively engaged in endeavouring to get a suitable occupant for that factory.
