Vol. 263 No. 2

Written Answers. - Children's Allowances.

471.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the estimated annual cost of increasing children's allowances in the Republic to the levels currently being paid in Northern Ireland.

On the basis that no payment would be made for the first child in a family, as is the case in Northern Ireland, the annual cost of increasing children's allowances to the rates currently being paid there is estimated at £15,197,300.
