Vol. 263 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shipping Contract.

71.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether a contract for three ships for Irish Shipping Limited has recently been placed; and, if so, the name and address of the firm which got the order and the contract price.

No such contract has been placed by Irish Shipping Limited recently. A contract for four bulk carriers was placed by the company with Upper Clyde Shipbuilders Limited in July, 1970. I have already given full particulars of this order in reply to questions in this House on the 24th June, 1971 and 28th October, 1971.

The company have also on order in conjunction with Swedish and Norwegian interests a car ferry for the Rosslare/Le Havre service. I gave details of this order in reply to a question on 18th April, 1972.
