Vol. 263 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - McKinsey Report on CIE.

88.

Mr. O'Donnell

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether the Government have yet completed their study of the implications of the McKinsey Report on CIE; whether new transport legislation will be introduced; and, if so, when.

Government decisions have not yet been taken on the McKinsey Report.

As I indicated in reply to a similar question by the Deputy on 21st June, 1972, the consultants' recommendations for a new subvention policy for CIE are being examined in the light of the evolving common transport policy of the EEC. This examination is proceeding but I am not yet in a position to indicate when new legislation in relation to CIE will be introduced.
